On Friday, the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced its annual Gold Rush event for football. The Gold Rush will take place on Saturday, November 17 when the Mountaineers welcome the Oklahoma Sooners to Morgantown.
In addition, the department has announced a brand-new Stripe the Stadium initiative. The idea is to have alternating sections in the stadium fully-clad in either blue or gold. A similar idea is currently instituted at Boise State, and an example can be seen here.
Basically, fans sitting in an odd-numbered section will be asked to wear blue, whereas fans in an even-numbered section should arrive to the game decked out in gold. Students seated in the upper deck are asked to where gold, while students sitting in the lower sections will be wearing blue.
As long as the fans follow through, this could be a new, great look for Milan Puskar Stadium.
The WVU Stripe the Stadium event will occur on Saturday, September 29 for the team’s first ever Big 12 Conference game against Baylor.
