West Virginia just received a verbal commitment from defensive end Korey Harris. Harris is a 6’3, 235 pound defensive end from Bartram Trail High School in Fruit Cove, Florida. After finishing the 2010 campaign with a share of its sixth Big East Championship, West Virginia has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to win the title again in 2011. It’s been reported that freshman WVU QB Brian Athey has left the program. Athey will transfer to Illinois State, and will be eligible to play this season. Brian was listed at third on the depth chart. The loss leaves WVU a little thin at the quarterback position. Behind Geno Smith is true freshmen Paul Millard and redshirt freshmen Scotty Frisina.
