WVU and Florida State Reach Settlement

West Virginia and Florida State have officially reached a financial settlement after WVU was forced to cancel the scheduled matchups for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. West Virginia will have to pay $500,000 to Florida State before the end of May. With the move to the Big 12, WVU now plays nine conference games instead of  just the seven that they played in the Big East. Former WVU quarterback Jarrett Brown will have another chance to try and prove himself NFL worthy this weekend now that the Jacksonville Jaguars have invited him to participate in their minicamp this weekend. The minicamp, which runs Friday through Sunday, will give Brown the opportunity to make the training camp roster. Brown is hoping the Jaguars will be the right fit for him. Former Mountaineer linebacker Najee Goode and defensive back Keith Tandy joined Bruce Irvin as the second and third players from WVU to be selected in the 2012 NFL Draft. They were both drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Goode was taken as the fifth pick of the fifth round, or the 140th pick overall. WVU freshmen walk-on guard Paul Williamson has been granted his release from the West Virginia basketball program according to WVU SID Bryan Messerly. WV Metro News and WV Illustrated are both reporting that he is expected to transfer to Fairmont State with new head coach, and former WVU assistant Jerrod Calhoun.
